·   Mermaid Avenger/Princess Aqua Neptuna – Aqua Neptuna is the daughter of Queen Neptuna of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. She is also a high school student and a patrol officer for the kingdom‘s Military Police Force. Her race are alien mer-people (mermaids and mermen; unlike folklore, they are actually two-legged aquatic creatures rather than the stereotypical half-fish, half-human bodies told in fairy tales and animated movies; they were aliens who crash landed on Earth 500 years ago and set residence in the legendary ruins of Atlantis) with the ability to transform into humans and have (in human form) super-speed, flight and enhanced strength. She patrols her sector with her partner, Arthur Gull. Aqua come to contact with a human named John Jason, the son of a wealthy philanthropist, after a terrorist attack on a cruise ship he’s in, and save his life. After the incident Aqua was commissioned by her mother to become its’ ambassador to the human world. Under the codename “Mermaid Avenger”, she, along with Arthur, John, US Navy Admiral Kathryn Rumius and her battle fleet, and a fellow Atlantis high school classmate Serena Urchin, patrol the seven seas pitting against eco-terrorists, pirates, and Aqua’s ancestral race’s rival faction who recently came to Earth to conquer the planet. Aqua is a shy but carefree girl. Inspired to serve her royal duty beyond her status as princess, she dedicated her life to becoming a police officer and protecting her own kind. Although she and her partner Arthur has a close friendly relationship, Aqua is secretly in love with Jason, much to the chagrin of Arthur. She is also frustrated with Serena’s constant fan-girlish idol worship towards her. Naïve about the human world, Aqua learns the ropes of her new surroundings while enforcing the seven seas from those that threatened them. Aqua favorite hobbies are shopping and collecting human artifacts. Her favorite food is seasoned seaweed (a delicacy among young mer-people) and chicken Caesar salad. And stated above, like her race, Aqua possesses the ability to transform from mermaid to human and back by sheer will. In human form, she has superior abilities such as flight, self-healing regeneration, spinning teleportation, super-speed and enhanced strength. However, she has a special gene (the odds of a mer-person possessing this gene is 100,000:1) that enables her to fire various types of power beams from her hands and telepathically communicate with other aquatic species. She is a gifted expert in hand-to-hand combat, both human and mer-person-taught disciplines. She is also trained in human and mer-person-based weaponry. She is resourceful and intelligent and a brilliant strategist and tactician. Her standard equipment includes a standard police-issue laser pistol which is capable of stun and lethal settings, as well as firing “stun-beam torpedoes” for underwater combat; and indestructible bracelets for repelling all projectile weapons including bullets and small lasers.
