Soun-Ja (pronounced "Sonya") Solaflare, at age 15 (Earth years), was the youngest to reach the rank of detective at the Intergalactic Patrol. She was eager to join the agency's organized crime division, but her superiors refused to allow her since it was too dangerous. On a routine stakeout to arrest a wanted con artist, Soun-ja suddenly spotted ruthless gangster Dominus Desturcticus who coincidentally hired the con artist to blackmail a wealthy businessman into stealing profits from offshore mining operations. Without hesitation and seizing an opportunity for that desired promotion to the OCD, Soun-ja disobeys orders and attempted to arrest Dominus on her own and without backup, that move would be the last thing she needed when she ended up being kidnapped by Dominus' goons and was held for ransom. She was later freed from captivity when she was rescued by a rookie officer named Alanne Alpha. This series of events forced Soun-ja's superiors to transfer her to meter maid for her disobeying orders, but when she was targeted by Dominus' hitmen, she was later transferred to reunite with Alanne at his taskforce in Asteroid Precinct 89A, orbiting the non-interference planet of Earth. While reunited with Alanne, she later got acquainted with a half-breed Earthling officer named Ginger Hale (aka Galaxy Guardian Ginger) and began her adventures with the pink-haired heroine.

      Soun-ja is a no-nonsense, tough-as-nails detective who hides her inner feelings and acts like a professional. She has a strong sense of justice and hates corruption. She also do not like being bullied by ruffians, con artists and lowlife criminals. Although she has feeling for Alanne, especially owing him for saving her life at that fateful incident, she forgets about them knowing that if will upset his current partner Dolly Delta. She has a short temper (which usually ends up in loud outbursts), especially towards Ginger for her being lazy, ditzy and inexperienced, but soon in some extent acts like a big sister to her. Soun-ja's favorite hobbies and playing darts and practice shooting. Her favorite Earth food are cheeseburgers.

      Soun-ja is a seasoned veteran detective and forensics expert, having experienced in field work and undercover operations. She is an expert markswoman and is a trained hand-to-hand combatant. As with other female officers in the Intergalactic Patrol, her standard equipment included jet-firing boots, a belt-buckle switch which activates a aura-like shield surrounding her body to help her survive the vacuum of space and underwater depths, and a left-wrist gauntlet which is equipped with a force field generator which protects her from projectile attacks, a GPS-style space locator holographic map projector, a two-way beacon with radio link to IP headquarters for request to transport additional personal weapons and equipment, and a flip-top computer keyboard/monitor. She is armed with a IP-issue plasma blaster with optional stun setting for non-lethal takedowns. She is a qualified starship and maritime vehicle pilot and operator.
